there’s no air in space, so sound can’t travel. which means that you can’t hear projectiles hurtling towards you until it’s too late. you have to rely on your ship’s sensors - and if they fail…

there’s no air in space, which means that debris becomes as deadly as cannon-fire, hurtling through the air unchecked by gravity or air resistance, forming a deadly maze of twisted metal to navigate around. even a small shard of shrapnel can break pressurised glass when moving at high speed.
there’s no air in space, so if you’re fortunate (or, perhaps, unfortunate) enough to survive the destruction of your craft, you won’t last long enough to scream, let alone be rescued.
besides, nobody would hear you if you did.
