I cannot believe that anyone can deserve you. But it seems I am overruled. So I heartily give my consent. I could not have parted with you, my Lizzie, to anyone less worthy.

Oh please tell me about lesbian odo
from

thank you….. my time has finally come……….

okay i’m sure i’ve said some of this stuff before. however i’ve tried to make a comprehensive list of the #proof that odo is a lesbian.

EXHIBIT A: gender ain’t real

  • odo is a shapeshifter. although he’s perceived as male by many viewers/characters, there’s NO reason he should conform to traditional ancient human gender norms. no gender no rules (actually, Yes Rules, but only the rules that odo makes up. none of these rules are connected to gender)
  • he uses he/him pronouns because that’s what he feels most comfortable with (and it’s also a hc of mine that he based so much of his appearance off of mora pol, intentionally or not, so maybe when he was young he decided “oh sweet, lemme just use this fool’s pronouns,” and it just kind of… stuck)
  • it’s stated in many (non-canon, but still like.. official star trek) works that he has no real gender, at least not in human terms
  • lesbian culture is having a wild relationship with your gender but also feeling deeply connected to your identity as a woman insofar as it pertains to your lesbianism
  • he presents in a “masculine” way but like…… that’s nobody’s business. it’s what he feels comfortable with. he likes having short “hair” and he’s used to shapeshifting the same uniform even when he’s off-duty and he likes the timbre of his voice and absolutely none of those things determine gender anyways

EXHIBIT B: kira/odo

  • odo struggles with discerning his romantic feelings from friendship—he struggles with having no real culture of his own to use as reference, and he’s also just deeply uncomfortable with who he is, so he dismisses romance as something for solids
  • i imagine he’s like three years into his friendship with kira before he bursts out of his bucket in a cold sweat going “oh shit, i’m in love”
  • truly the lesbian experience.
  • have you SEEN the way he looks at kira whenever she’s with one of her bland boyfriends? he’s so desperately in love with her but he also doesn’t want to make her uncomfortable
  • like that is Such a lesbian feeling. she is his best best friend and he loves and respects her so much and he’s so terrified that admitting his feelings will ruin their relationship—or, worse, make him seem predatory
  • odo is the lesbian that’s been dropping hints for years and kira is the lesbian who goes “okay they bring me coffee every morning and they know my deepest secrets and i trust them more than anyone else and they kiss me and they told me they loved me but do they LIKE me like me.” oblivious lesbian icon

EXHIBIT C: stray bits of evidence

  • idk if this is just a Me thing or a universal lesbian experience but….. buckets are very neat. i used to carry one around in case i found any cool rocks. buckets = lesbian culture
  • potentially the most awkward being on that fucking station
  • has no idea how to stand/what do do with his hands/how to relax
  • likes reading dumb romance novels
  • tacky butch ICON. why does he dress like that. fucking. all-tan ensemble hair slicked back motherfucker
  • I Just Think He’s Neat
