How should PR3 end, in your opinion?
from

I think it should end in a similar way to how it began; with narration, and optimism, and wildly different people coming together to become a makeshift family.

Liwen continues to developed her remotely piloted Jaegers, but now they’re being used to help clear up disaster zones. Non-profit, of course. She hopes that one day they can be used to bring aid to remote locations after natural disasters. She hopes one day that will be all they’re needed for.

Amara‘s an engineering prodigy; companies across the globe are vying for her attention, but she’s content working in a run-down repairs shop for now. She’s working on something that, in a few years, will blow the most advanced mathematicians’ minds. The children that come into the store with broken games consoles and train sets remind her of herself before the war. She’s a loan wolf… Aside from Jake, who she checks in with almost every day. And Vik, who works alongside her.

Jake visits the graveyard every week. Visits his father’s honorary grave. His sister’s. Everyone lost in both apocalypses, most of whom he knew by name. He doesn’t mourn though; he celebrates and appreciates and remembers to fight for what is good. And he’s not alone. Jules and Nate are always by his side. Amara sometimes, too. He’s never alone.

Newt smiles sleepily as he styles his hair in the mirror. There’s a sturdiness to his shoulders and a softness to his stomach that everyone assumed had long deserted him. And there’s a gleam in his eyes that hasn’t been there for ten years. Hermann kisses his shoulder, teases him gently about sleeping in so long, playfully traces the tattoos on his stomach. It’s early and warm and they don’t want to let go of each other.

Tendo spends lazy mornings in bed with his wife and son. Buys himself a bagel on the way to work. Allows himself to make future plans for his family.

Herc runs a sanctuary for lost and abandoned dogs. He ends up adopting far too many. His favourite is called Stacker.

And all the while Jake Pentecost is narrating. Not Ranger Pentecost or Marshal Pentecost’s son, but Jake. Jake, who corresponds with Liwen and encourages her work. Who’s like a brother to Amara and treasures her as a sister in return. Who loves his [partners] friends. Who, against his better judgement, continues to correspond with Dr Geiszler, who is far more annoying when he’s not trying to destroy the earth. Who asks Tendo questions about his father. Who visits Herc so much sometimes he almost calls him dad. Jake, who finally found a family at the PPDC and is sad to see them scattered across the globe, but who finds peace in the notion that all the world’s greatest people are working to make it a better place.

End? No, the journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it…  White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
