Spock, as ever, blinked from asleep to awake in a matter of seconds. He could feel the solid warmth of McCoy’s body in the bed beside him, one of his arms thrown lazily over Spock’s waist and his forehead lightly touching Spock’s back. Spock slowly turned, letting his boyfriend’s arm slide over his waist until he was arranged so he was facing him.
Gently, he reached up a hand and brushed McCoy’s sleeping face, waking the doctor gently. His Leonard blinked sleepily, coming to wakefulness slowly, in that very uniquely human way. His mussed hair and dazed eyes made Spock’s heart clench almost painfully in his side - a somewhat fanciful concept, but he nonetheless found it to be true.
“Good morning, Leonard.” Spock pressed his lips to Leonard’s forehead.
“Mornin’ darlin’” Leonard mumbled, his arm tightening around Spock’s waist, forcing him to shift a little closer - not that Spock could find it in himself to mind, given they had approximately 3.2 hours before they each needed to report for duty.
Leonard was soft, lazily affectionate in his half-awake state, and it contrasted his typically alert and fierce demeanour in a way that Spock should perhaps find less endearing than he did.
Spock leaned in to kiss Leonard again, this time on the lips, and they luxuriated in the unusually calm morning. Leonard trailed his fingers down Spock’s back and grinned at the moan.
“Ah, Spock. You’re just precious, ain’t ya.”
“Cease talking, Leonard. I have a plan for your lips, and talking is not one of them.”
“Alright, peaches.”
“I am not a fruit, ashayam.”
“Now who’s talking excessively?” Leonard grinned, capturing Spock’s lips in a kiss as a kind of victory.
“I do not think it counts as you are using rather underhan-”
“Just deal with the illogical endearments, ashayam.”
