INT. A HUT ON AHCH-TO — NIGHT
We fade in on the interior of a small, stone hut. There is a fire crackling somewhere. In a plush armchair, reading a copy of Leaves of Grass, sits LUKE SKYWALKER, a sleepy, but content, look on his face.
Enter RIAN JOHNSON, acclaimed director and screenwriter. He is a bespectacled, short, British man. He appears flustered.
RIAN
What are you doing?! You’re supposed to be depressed! Why are you reading Whitman and looking so happy?!Enter, from offscreen, LANDO CALRISSIAN. He is wearing a blue, velvet house robe and slippers with gold-thread tassels. He has aged since we last saw him, but the lines on his face are the marks of years of smiles, not frowns. In his hands are two mugs steaming with some unknown hot beverage. He leans in to kiss Luke on the cheek as he sets one of the mugs down on a knit coaster on the table beside him.
LUKE
What is this, my love?LANDO
I made our favorite. Gourmet hot chocolate, spiked with a dash of peppermint Schnapps, just like you like it.Luke leans up to kiss him on the nose.
RIAN
(visibly confused)
You should be standing out on a cliff somewhere, brooding upon your failures as you gaze upon the horizon. Not drinking spiked hot chocolate with… is that Lando Calrissian?! You’re not even in this movie!Lando smiles gently.
LANDO
Ah, but Rian, I’m afraid I am.Luke sets down his book and picks up a stack of loose paper from the table.
LUKE
We’ve made some rewrites to your script. Not too many changes, I assure you. But just a few important things.RIAN
(now spluttering in confusion as he turns back to Luke)B-but! You’re in a crisis! You’re a broken man!
LUKE
(eyes sparkling with a mixture of wisdom and amusement)Now, Rian, does that really sound like me? I can assure you, we are quite happy.
(He turns to Lando)
Aren’t we, dear?
Lando leans in for another kiss before turning back to Rian.
LANDO
Yes. So terribly, terribly happy.
