the torchwood novels were good bcause they gave us the quality ianto/jack bullshit plots we deserved, with classics such as:

• zoo date is cancelled when jack dies and ianto turns invisible
  
• ianto gets bodyswapped and has to make out with jack to convince him that its actually him
• jack tries to take ianto on a date to see clowns. ianto hates clowns.
• jack and ianto have to deliver a baby in the middle of the zombie apocalypse
• jack and ianto are trapped in an elevator with another gay couple and have to make awkward small talk as a monster crawls through the vents
