me lying in bed 11:45pm barely managing to keep myself awake: the weird, naive ways in which longshot and shatterstar often relate to the world around them (from poor social skills to straight up errors in cognition) are the direct result of the violent, tv-obsessed world they grew up in and thats just super fucking juicy to be honest
me lying inbed 3:07 am drinking some cold water: they essentially did not have any friendly contact until they joined the rebellion, and even then it wasnt so much friendship as allyship, working toward a common goal. up till then they’d been raised by television and nameless faceless beings for whom they were expected to kill and die
before coming to earth they were basically hollywood as a whole condensed and smashed into people. like echolalia but all the time, about everything, forever, because you’ve never had people to talk to or relate to or correct you when you misunderstand something. im willing to bet most of the things star says are recycled lines from cool movies he saw when he was 15 (which, to be fair, Same) and from my point of view thats a spicy meatball
me barely keeping eyes open but still absolutely chuggingthat water: its really amazing how like? gentle they are considering the world they grew up in. i mean obviously they do have a lot of weapons that they use often to kill people because thats kind of what you do when youre a comic book character but like look back at longshots early interactions with the xmen…he was so amazed by everything he saw. he made friends with the ocean
