hobbit-hole:

Sam running to Frodo in the boat when Frodo tries to leave… my man waded RIGHT into that water with ZERO hesitation knowing FULL WELL he didn’t know how to swim. not a lick of reluctance. so much to unpack there. his unwavering faith in Frodo turning back for him… his refusal to let Frodo go through this alone and considering the both of them a two-person deal period… the impact of Sam not being able to swim and risking it to follow Frodo and Frodo’s parents having drowned… the shot where Frodo grabs Sam’s hand to pull him out of the water being paralleled later on when Sam grabs Frodo’s hand in Mordor to pull him up from falling… that’s cinematic poetry at its FINEST. that’s unbridled devotion. that’s LOVE
