cleophilotheai just watched httyd for the first time since it probably came out with my sister and the whole time i was like…. the themes… overcoming the cycle of abuse… learning to trust each other despite fear and past violence… the guilt of hiccup having injured toothless so he can never fly without him and toothless having inadvertently taken off hiccups leg when saving him at the end once again showing the cycle, but they move past it together…
also dragons
literally though how to train your dragon is an amazing and fun movie with an important and powerful message. the fact that it has dragons only elevates it from ‘one of the best films ever made’ to 'if every other movie in the world was destroyed and only one could survive, it’d get my vote for sure’.
