One of my least favorite things that often happens when straight people write LGBT characters is when during a fight or something a gay character makes a mean comment or something about another character being closeted or pretending to be someone they’re not etc, especially if it happens in front of other people because… most LGBT people know not to out people or make them feel like shit for not being out, because we understand how painful being closeted can be, but straight people love to use it for drama and it’s honestly annoying to read at this point

The idea that to be beautiful means to be good and to be disfigured means to be evil is not new. It’s a really tired, unoriginal trend in the movie industry, and only perpetuates damaging beliefs about individuals with facial differences.

I know this is going to be dismissed as some fucking snowflake nonsense but I work in a paediatric burns unit and the effects of this trope are gut wrenching and so, so damaging.

The thing that puts me off shipping so badly is that when a pairing is popular, the shippers tend to only focus on the characters in shipping terms. Important moments from canon about one of the characters are turned into ship moments, even if the other character isn’t there. I respect everybody’s right to do as they wish, but not everything is about fictional romance. It just irks me how a characters individual qualities and important moments in canon are always reduced to shipping.
