• extremely time consuming. Remember someone actually took time out of their life to create that, time they could’ve used to, idk, sleep, for example
• entertainment you’re consuming for free. I can’t stress this enough: you’re enjoying someone else’s craft for free. You paid exactly zero money to look at/read/watch it.
• S H A R E D  with you, not made for you. This is the most important point: someone created that, put it online and you found it. No one forced you to consume that fanwork, you C H O S E  to do it.

I don’t hate the rich because I’m envious, I hate the rich because they as a class exist alongside 3 billion people living on less than $2.50 a day, those people having their wealth stolen by capitalist governments and corporations enriching themselves. Billions of people, most working to literal death, have nothing to live on, while trillions of dollars, enough to end global poverty, circulate among a small minority of wealthy individuals that wouldn’t be so wealthy without a system that relies on forced and unnecessary class divisions. I hate the rich because I feel anger before sadness when witnessing such ridiculous and horrific injustice in the 21st century.

But it’s not so much the rich I hate, it’s capitalism, and the ideological principles it relies on, which encourage people to harm themselves and others for success. Capitalism tells all of us, not just rich people, that anyone suffering is suffering because of their own character flaws. It also tells us that hard work is always a path to wealth, and that human rights abuses to achieve this goal are excusable. It leaves people void of empathy and compassion for their fellow humans.

When you point out this injustice, you’re either painted as envious (when not rich) or a hypocrite (when you are rich). The conversation can’t be had, but I still believe we can create a better world, and that we are not as naturally evil as we think.

i didn’t think i would have to say this to my own followers but… this is not a pro-“ship and let ship” blog, i do not believe in anything being “just fiction” or what have you… criticizing and demanding better from content creators, culture shapers, isn’t “abuse,” “harassment,” or “bullying,” it’s social responsibility.

this isn’t just an “unfollow me if you [whatever]” post, this is a post asking you as a member of society to please consider the impact you can have. i’m not looking to pick fights with people whose minds i won’t change, but this isn’t something i’m willing to budge or compromise on. if you follow me, you’ve involved yourself with me, and now i’m pleading with you, person to person:

consider the impact of your words, actions, and creations. about race, about age gaps and abuse, about gender, all that jazz. fiction is used to groom and oppress just as much as it’s used to empower and embolden. we all play a role in shaping society.
