i’m going to be honest for a second. as much as i thoroughly enjoyed watching (most of) the good omens miniseries and appreciate that they didn’t try to tone down the gay aspects of aziraphale and crowley’s relationship and even in some cases made the subtext more explicit i can’t really say that it was a good thing that they did it so obviously on purpose while still refusing to actually canonize it when it was basically all but verbally confirmed by the end of the series. yes, i’ve read the book so i knew exactly what i was going into and no, i’m not trying to be all “i only stan GOOD, UNPROBLEMATIC rep and everything else is garbage regardless of any genuine merit it might have coexisting with its problematic elements” or “this one thing upset me personally so even though that’s just my opinion that most other fans probably don’t share i hereby declare that the entire show sucks and nobody should enjoy it, ever” about it all but there’s queerbaiting and then there’s taking the bait and rubbing it all over your audience’s face when they won’t bite because they already know the game and it feels pretty bad man.

like idk if anyone else experienced this but there were moments where it really felt like they were dangling a “here’s what could have been” in your face and then yanking it out of reach as if to say “but you’re a right idiot if you honestly thought it could ever actually happen for realsies” and i don’t blame any specific individual for it nor am i one of those people who expects or even wants content creators to give into my whims and make my “ship” canon but it did hurt a little bit
