the one thing i will never forgive the new ophelia movie for is casting hamlet like he’s some kind of jock-hunk man who’s conventionally attractive. like. where’s the little goth goblin twink we all know to be true.
Dear Horatio, By the time you read this, I’ll be dead. This is how I think it’s gonna happen: Laertes will stab me, then I’ll stab Laertes, then Gertrude will enter and get poisoned by Claudius. Then Claudius will come in and get killed by me multiple times. Love, Your boyfriend Hamlet.
P.S. Then Fortinbras will show up and be like ‘what the fuck’
So The Lion King is based on Hamlet, right? But since there are no people in the Lion King and there’s nothing to tie it to any specific time period, there’s no reason to assume that The Lion King and Hamlet are not happening simultaneously.
the older i get, the more plausible hamlet being a young adult man as opposed to in his late teens becomes. like, i’m in my twenties and i’m still a depressed, chronically indecisive, emotionally unstable, antisocial wreck.
shit tier: hamlet is in his late twenties/early thirties because the chronology of the play determines it is so
okay tier: hamlet is a teenager because his mannerisms and course of action throughout the play suggest a level of psychological immaturity similar to that of a still-developing adolescent
god tier: hamlet is your age because you are hamlet; his character is specifically designed for the audience to relate to and project onto, because hamlet is an avatar for the human psyche as a whole
