this isn’t a fun ‘hozier that horny bastard lesbian icon’ post but i think a reason his music resonates so much with lgbt people is that he does a lot of imagery regarding religious conflict/sin and well. you know. and then there’s the theme of love leading to death or dying with a loved one and i’ve always connected more to those songs and i don’t want to say it’s because i’ve been raised as a gay person only seeing gay people die on tv and feeling connected to that but that’s absolutely what i’m saying

hozier is cathartic bc not only does his music slap but also it’s easy to see our internal and external conflicts with mere existence in it
