Frodo is most likely in constant pain from his shoulder wound, but he never complains about it.
When Gandalf asks him how his shoulder is, he answers with “Better than it was,” implying that it still pains him, even if the severity has lessened a little. Gandalf is basically giving Frodo a free pass to complain, but he doesn’t.
He complains about it maybe twice in the films, and both times it’s fully justified. One time the pain is so bad that he feels as if he is being wounded anew. The other time is on the anniversary, when he is troubled with memories as well as heightened pain. And it might be a bit of a stretch to call those complaints, as they are brief, rather vague statements.
And people insist that he’s whiny.
