Spones across the movies. Extracts from the novels of “Wrath of Khan” and “The Search For Spock” by Vonda McIntyre, and “The Undiscovered Country” by J.M. Dillard.

It is canon.

Headcannon that mccoy is really good at magic tricks and even though spock knows logically that it’s an illusion he can’t figure out how mccoy keeps pulling quarters out of his ear.

“there seems to be something in that pointed ear of yours” *pulls a quarter out of spock’s ear*

“doctor. I must insist that you stop this foolish behavior at once.”

“Looks like those ears are finally good for something” *pulls another quarter out of spock’s ear*

“we no longer use these items as currency. where do you keep getting them from?”

why spock… i’m getting them from behind your ear”

  • when I started shipping it if I did: ummmmm well when i watched beyond for the first time during all their interactions i was sitting there like “hmmm that’s…kinda gay” but i didn’t think there was really a community for it??? but then i stumbled across it on here and i was like “OH SHIT THIS IS A THING” and that was it, i was sold
  • my thoughts: i think a lot of people misunderstand this ship as one of those “enemies to lovers”/”they fight, that means they like each other!” ships when it’s actually a lot deeper than that? like, sure, they start off as a hostile pair, but in both tos and aos (thought to a lesser extent, because, well, they’re movies with a limited runtime) they develop together and apart to a point where they genuinely respect and care for one another, and i think that’s really beautiful
  • What makes me happy about them: they’re one of those unlikely pairs that would have to work hard to maintain a relationship, so the idea of them managing that against all odds and expectations is a really nice thought
  • What makes me sad about them: mccoy would die naturally long before spock did, meaning spock would have to go on alone with nothing like a katra left of mccoy as a source of comfort
  • things done in fanfic that annoys me: when people think it’s okay for mccoy to call spock ‘hobgoblin’, even as a joke. DON’T DO THAT SHIT Y’ALL or i’ll come to your house and delete your account
  • things I look for in fanfic: mutual respect and obvious love for one another without one of both of them being extremely ooc
  • Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
  • My happily ever after for them: both of them not being such stubborn assholes and being comfortable to admit they care for each other
  • who is the big spoon/little spoon: spock is the big spoon (mccoy likes to be cozy)
  • what is their favorite non-sexual activity: hiking together on shore leave. mccoy loves the fresh air and great views, and spock always enjoys studying the native plant and animal life.

send me a pairing!

“although mccoy and spock’s relationship is initially founded on hostility, largely instigated by mccoy, they develop as characters throughout the series to a point where their relationship is based on mutual respect and even affection for one another”
